Hi Friends of Oompf, it’s Alvan here. Today we will be talking about how to find your motivation to gym after the 6 weeks of home workout/no workout. Getting back to the gym after 6 weeks of home workouts or even no workouts is not the easiest thing for everyone. You might need a little motivation to get back to the grind or might even feel a little demoralised if you haven’t done a proper workout since the gym closures.

Don’t worry! All is not lost. The good news is that your body is very adaptable and once you get back into a consistent routine, your body will emulate your effort.

Here are some tips to getting back to the gym!

1. Keep accountable to your personal trainer!
Working out is easier when you have someone to track your progress and ease you back into your workouts! Who better to help you than your own personal trainer! Be it booking sessions in advance, keeping us updated with your meals or even letting us know what activities you manage to do throughout your day, these small steps will help in mentally preparing you to get back on track with your fitness journey!

2. Take it easy
I don’t mean take it slow, I mean take it easy. Especially if you did not manage to workout during the past 6 weeks, don’t expect the weights to feel as light as before. Allow your body to ease back into exercise without feeling bad that you may now be lifting a few Kgs lighter than you used to. As mentioned before, be consistent and your strength will be back in no time.

3. Set goals and rewards
Most importantly, remember why you started working out in the first place! What are your fitness goals? Have you reached them? Do you have new goals now after the ‘lockdown’? Remember that you are working out for no one else but yourself! If you’ve managed to stick with your goals, give yourself a reward. It could be a massage or it could be your favourite treat! Find ways to enjoy working out and building a strong, healthy body!
