How To Improve Your Gut Health

Hi Friends of Oompf, it’s Alvan here. Today we will be talking about gut health and how to improve it. A healthy gut is usually functioning properly when you have bowel movement one to two times daily that is well-formed and easy to pass. You might not be aware of it or be able to ‘feel it’ but symptoms like lack of sleep, high anxiety, imbalanced hormones and always falling ill could be an indicator that you may be dealing with inflammation or distress in your gut. Here are some ways you could improve and heal your gut health.

1. Take a food allergen test
First step in cleaning your gut is knowing which foods are inflammatory to your system. By avoiding foods that might cause you problems, inflammatory processes can be reduced or even stopped and your body can recover. Some typical food allergens may include gluten, soy, dairy, sugar, eggs, peanuts and alcohol.

2. Supplement probiotics & digestive enzymes
These help to aid digestion and help with nutrient absorption. Consult your doctor or dietician to see what supplement is suitable for you.

3. Supplement Collagen
Collagen is beneficial to gut health because it contains large amounts of the amino acids glycine, glutamine and proline which can be beneficial to the intestinal tract as well as the stomach. Opt for a collagen with dermaval.

4. Have healthy smoothies regularly
Smoothies are a great way to consume all the nutrients you need in one go. You can include superfoods, veggies and even anti-oxidants.

5. Manage your stress and drink lots of water
Stress can affect digestion and what nutrients the intestines absorb. It can cause your intestinal barrier to become weaker and allow gut bacteria to enter the body. For some, it may slow down digestion, cause bloating, pain and constipation, while in others it speeds digestion up, causing diarrhoea and frequent trips to the bathroom.
